This is a GREAT book! I was slogging through the back story (definitely important, but still a bit long) until I got through the first 20% of the book. After that, I didn't want to put it down! Definitely a True Love Story, like Buttercup and Wesley, True Love. So sweet and tender. But, the fun doesn't end there, because the bad guy is despicable, and his son is no better. Chanti, the heroine, is super brave, cunning, and innocent to ways of the world, but she loves God and relies on Him. She's very inspiring. Her Hero, Peyton, is a great and wonderful young man. This is a perfect book for eighth grade and up. There is some kissing, but not over the top. LOVED IT.

This marvelous story, had me laughing, crying and full of gratitude for the good and wonderful people in the world who have sacrificed much for good and freedom! It is a wonderful author that can create such depth of emotion and create a scene so real you can smell it! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.
This is wonderful story about two kids who grew up together and were absolutely the closest and best friends possible. As the girl became older, they both realized they were in love. He decides to become a knight and leaves for training. They both experience trials and a dangerous adventure. Loved this story.
I don't know. Sometimes I have to be in the right mood for a particular genre. When I started to read this book, I was expecting something along the line of the other books I've read and enjoyed by this author. When it wasn't, I started losing interest. I have yet to finish it. It seems well written, but just didn't catch my interest.

But I really have enjoyed the authors other books. So try one of her other books!

Ok so I was desperate for something to read and picked this up again...hopefully.

I made it through this time.

The language made it hard to read. To much twas and fair this and that and the main characters were the most beautiful and strongest and most skilled. Frankly the book lost a lot when the male lead was knighted and the princes best friend within a month of becoming a squire.

Truthfully I could have forgiven a lot of that if it had been easier to read without all of the language.

Overall a bit long, decent storyline, a solid 3 stars. Again, read this authors other books. They are so much better.
This author has hit her stride! This book was full of deeply engaging real life characters you will want to meet. They were so well painted by Ms. Hawkes I felt like they were sitting in my den with me. The courage, the wisdom and the fortitude of each character brought them off the page and into my world with such excitement I could hardly put this book down. Then I was so upset when it was finished. I cannot wait for the sequel!
I Loved loved this story!!!! This book was just a great read! I thought the love story was Soooo so sweet, and there was suspense and fun along with it. I just thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing I thought was lacking was an explanation of a few things that happened towards the end. Even with that I still had to give it 5 stars because I liked it enough that I am going to turn around and read it again! Very good work Jaclyn!!!
I enjoy all of this authors stories, but this was the best. I loved the setting, and adventure. I recommend this
adventure romance to any who are seeking clean, entertaining reading.
My wife and I both enjoy this author's work.
I think most of the men out there would not want to admit to reading romance, but I think the
guys would enjoy this one. Ladies, buy it for yourself, and suggest the man in your life might enjoy it.

This action packed book is not a sci-fi paranormal as I thought when I saw the cover. No werewolves, vampires or magic in this story, but that does not mean its lacking anything. This book is smart, fun and funny. Ms. Hawkes makes you smell the land, hear the atmosphere and fall deeply in love with her characters from chapter one. No angsty communication misunderstandings or love triangles in this book. And while the love story is the major plot line,...it also isn't. I highly recommend this book to anyone 14+.
