It's been awhile since I read the preceding book, Rock and Roll Never Forgets, and I wonder why it took me so long to read book two. Having read a couple books now by Ms. Stewart, I knew I was in for a roller coaster of emotion. This book chronicles life after Andy loses his Bethy and the relationship between her daughter, Carlee and her Papa. While this book is a romance, it is also a beautiful love story of a young girl who lost her mother and the man who stepped up and loved her more than her biological father. Their relationship gives a new meaning to the idea of the father/daughter relationship. Together they face life without the one person they love most in life, Beth.
Through the course of the book, Carlee grows from a sweet young girl into a vibrant, passionate young woman, focussed on helping children who deal with cancer in their lives. For a graduation present, Andy gifts Carlee a European vacation and she chooses to take the man who holds her heart with her, Andy. While there Carlee meets a young man that steals her heart. The story tells their journey to an HEA but I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's not like Ms. Stewart to leave characters happy for too long, lol. I guess, book three will answer more questions.
The characters in this book are like old friends, and are so developed they pop from the page. More than once I had teary eyes. There are some scenes that were so emotional I had to step away for a bit to regroup. If you are looking for a well written emotional series, start with Rock and Roll Never Forgets and continue on to When I look to the Sky to meet that need. You won't be sorry.

I loved this book and plan to purchase the last book in the trilogy so I can continue with the story. I don't think I have read a book that was so emotionally moving as this. This is a story that I plan to read over and over it was that good. Thank you Ms. Stewart for putting pen to paper and using your talents to write such an awesome and moving story. I loved all three books.

I haven't read the first book in the series yet, but if it is about how the story started then by reading this second book I really don't need to read the first one. Talk about a cliff hanger! WHEW this is a good one!!! But, I am curious enough that I do want to read the first one to get more details of the main people in the story. This story had me happy and sad and then happy again. I love fairy tales and to me this is how I felt about this story. With every chapter good things were happening, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop! Maybe all the bad stuff happened in the first part and so it was only the good things left to happen. The details in this story of what the people were thinking and seeing and how they felt about things and the descriptions of the places and things made me feel as if I were there and could see and feel everything along with the characters. Anyway, I feel like this is a good read and I really want to go to the first book and discover these people that came to life for me.
When I Look to the Sky is Carlee's story and what a beautiful story it is. I love Ms. Stewart's writing style and how she makes you feel like she is telling her own story. She draws you in and the characters wrap themselves around you.
Carlee is growing up and as painful as her days are without her mama her papa has seen to it that she has a great life. She is not spoiled but very loved. With the love and support of her family Carlee has done some amazing things with her life and found ways to keep her mother's memory alive. This story was sweet and sad make sure you have some tissues handy, you will need them!!
I loved the first book, Rock and Roll Never Forgets so,so much. It was a fantastic 5 star read. It was a heartwarming, and heart wrenching roller coaster of a love story. *SPOILER ALERT*
Unfortunately this book was not quite as good. I loved seeing Carlee and Andy's relationship. I loved seeing Carlee and Matthew fall in love.
However, I was surprised that John who was so amazing and selfless in the first book, was such a jerk in this one. In the first book,he was so excited when Beth got pregnant and was painting the room pink and buying furniture in the hopes that it would be a girl.He gave up his happiness with Beth to make sure she was able to have the love of her life Andy back in her life. In this book he checks out of his daughter's life and is not at all the man who was married to Beth. His reasons are explained but they don't really match the John we met in the first book.
Still, I could have loved this book too if it didn't keep doing things to diminish the first book. Andy tells Carlee that he didn't think he could love or miss anyone MORE that Beth, but he loves her more and will miss her more when she moves away. Well, I would have loved that line if he had said he didn't think he could love anyone or miss anyone AS MUCH as Beth.
Ok, Ok, I could have even dealt with that, but what ruined this one for me was Geni. Oh, NO! Beth didn't get her happily ever after but it seems like Geni will get Beth's daughter, and Andy's love and full time commitment too. I don't want to read about it. Geni has everything already. She is beautiful and wealthy and can cook and has a great laugh and has a great social standing and had a long, happy marriage, has great children and grandchildren and now she get's Andy too. I know life is not fair, but I was sold a love story in the first book and YES!! watching Geni, fabulous Geni get the man in the end doesn't work for me. Puts a lump in my throat and makes me wish I had stopped reading after the first book. Darn it!!!!!!!!
Not sure I will read the third book. I will check out the reviews first. But I will still recommend the first one to anyone who will listen.
What a beautiful story of love and redemption. Andy broke Beth's heart and in return he got the chance to make up for it by healing Carlee's heart. When Beth was dying and asked John to allow Andy to come back into their lives, it hurt John so much that he rejected both Beth and Carlee. Fortunately, Andy stepped in and became the father Carlee needed and wanted. Awesome Story! **** I absolutely loved Book #2 of this trilogy. I almost didn't read it because book # 1 had me so "shook"! But I am so glad I did!
